Sarutra's Music Label

>> Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Sarutra's Music is a small DIY label from Belgium. They are not restricted to a certain type of music so if it's good they will release it. I got three of their releases and I must say they are all great in their own way. All files are on megaupload. And they are:

Dotåbåtå - Cloudburst

This album is one of the best thing I've heard this year. It's soothing and beautiful. It has drone-like clean guitar recorded during heavy wind and rain (which is heard during the tracks).

And it is really good. I usually do not accept releases that are more on the music side but this one deserves the praise it gets around the web. Be sure to check this one out if you like drone. The front cover is horrible though. :|

01. Rain I (11:44)
02. Rain II (16:54)
03. Rain III (14:27

___dREàgänN|||||| - Eviltricity

This is a mix between harsh digital noise and ambient. Although everything you hear is guitar, it is manipulated in such a (digital) way that for most parts you wouldn't be able to recognize it. Most albums he releases have som sort of story to them, as he, as an artist, portrays a ronin/muse from another dimension, giving everything a fantastic spin.

The cavern of impending DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. As tasty as it sounds this one spouts all kind of guitar generated noise. Since the guitar is the only source (except in the last track) it can get a little reppetive but it's still enjoyable.

01. Cavern Of Impending Doom (16:07)
02. Eviltricirangers (9:01)
03. Electrammer And Friend (1:42)
04. The Sacred Chalice Which Holds The Mighty Screwdriver (15:35)

SpeakingDeaf - Derailed

A 3" album, containing 14 short tracks, all harsh analogue noise, 1 recording, no usage of multiple layers. Almost feels like what punk is supposed to be these days, exhausting, painfully and hard.

And it sure is painfull but in a good way!

Tracks are untitled so I won't write the whole thing down.

Label site is here!

You can go there and order their Cdrs or stuff like that. ^_^

thanks for posting the Dotåbåtå album, it's really good (though you are right about the cover!). They also have another album, 'Escapism', free to download from Last FM

cloudburst is so fucking amazing. i like the art too, though, maybe you could argue it's a bit cheesy or summat but i think it looks really sweet actually. carey's art is always brilliant, btw, art on the new ikodora '65 is incredible especially!

Thanks for these.

Dotabata is pretty great, his other work is deep dark doomy drone of various kind and also some more digital sounds, all worth checking out and most available freely on lastfm or various netlabels (the Glitch City and Smell the Stench ones are both great)

You're right about Dreagan, this release does stick to a certain sound but like you said he has stories in his releases and that's kinda the point here. His other albums are very diverse in sound and well worth checking out too (that I've heard, Vertebrae, Spring Mechanical Bird, The Uvtopobos Djinn and The Great White Snail are all great concepts).

Will be sure to give the other one you've posted a listen too, thanks again
