The typical reaction for an individual who has never heard of 'noise music,' or for that matter experimental electronic music, is to reject it on the basis of monotony. Power electronics can be even harder to grasp since it's based on repeating squalls of feedback. But there are examples, as with any genre, of artists who transcend those boundaries to create original and fresh work. Such is the case with Lee Bartow's Navicon Torture Technologies, an artist whose work blends the extremes of harshness and beauty of carnal desire in a way that's truly astonishing. Pure Skin is a perfect example of this, making for some truly effecting power electronics that doesn't necessarily follow the characteristics of Whitehouse-esque provocation. A must listen.

Take a look back into the past of electronic music with Pauline Oliveros, a key figure in electro-acoustics/musique concrete, or what have you. There's four pieces here, each with dense, awesome sounds. I'll admit noise doesn't date like other genres of music do; these tracks are still as fresh and striking now as they must have been decades ago.

Jesus Of Nazareth – The Shame Of Being A Child

Second release from this US (mostly) extreme Noise / Gabber unit. Beginning with punishing drill n' bass breaks and blastbeats with monstrous psychotic vocals and HARSH noise, "The Shame Of Being A Child" progresses into ghostly drones and white noise. Add in some Merzbow-meets-Boredoms insanity, mashed up grindcore debris, heavy machine beat action underneath swirling drones like ala Troum or Final. Overall, this album falls somewhere around the intersection of Discordance Axis, Muslimgauze, Japanese Noise, Nasenbluten and Winterkälte(!). Highly recommended to avant-grind and heavy noise fans.

I fucking love this release.

Keith Rowe & Toshimaru Nakamura – Weather Sky (2001)

Noise, I believe, is the end of pathway that a lot of genres extend into. Take, for instance, free improvisation, a form which involves participants playing off of each other with no set rules or regulations. Keith Rowe is from AMM, a band notorious for making some of the most challenging free improv music out there. No, it's not explicitly noise, but aided by Nakamura (who contributes a high pitch tone throughout) the comparisons are certainly there. It may not be the typical dark, sinister noise that you normally see posted here, but it certainly is something gripping, and noise fans will know what I mean. Listen closely, and you'll hear a breadth of unique sounds from this. Truly epic.

I'm not sure where many noisers stand in the debate of sampling. Indeed, nearly every second Propergol uses another sample to aid ominous, creepy atmospheres of a dark mental hospital or man's inner psychosis. But it's ingenious in it's effect and immersion of the listener's experience, and why you should listen to this right now and get transported into a world of terrible fantasy. Another debut as far as I am aware. This is an hour of work from 2001 spread across two C30s which equals four fifteen minute tracks that seem to be a single consistent piece, possibly recorded live. It has a definite lo-fi aesthetic about it that is consistent with Prurient releases such as Whooping Cough, Starvation, and Shrimp Crescent. Doesn't seem to mesh with its packaging "mate", Arbitrary Witness, in any noticeable sound. A wonderful piece of work, best listened to in its entirety. Four untitled tracks.

As far as I know, this rip can be considered a debut, as I am aware of no other existing rip of this tape. A 2003 release on Gods Of Tundra in an unknown edition, this C20 seems to be a wonderful bridge between the harsher "History Of Aids" style Prurient and his later melodic works. A must-download.

Much like power-electronic flagship Whitehouse, Nicole 12 devotes its lyricism and attitude to pedophilia in a way that's intended to shock and provoke. This shouldn't be a surprise to fans of PE who already know the drill. This new LP from Nicole 12 more of the pounding distortion, with the addition of creepy vocals and sound bits. One could consider it serious and demented, or perhaps a little overwrought and silly. I'm in both camps. Check it out and see for yourself.

Most people might not know this, but I really like Prurient. Been following his work for a few years now, and I'm pretty sure I've got one of the larger collections of his material out there. This is one of those gems I'm really glad to finally be able to share. Far as I know, this will be the earliest work of his to be disseminated to the internet at large: it dates from 1998, before Hospital Productions in Providence, obviously well before Hospital in NYC. Let's just say if you're expecting harsh material like Body Language, Magnified Healing, or The History Of Aids, you'll be quite surprised by the earlier efforts of Mr. Fernow.

The B side is a live performance in Wisconsin by Potassium Cyanide Dogbane Sentiment, who I can find precious little information about otherwise besides this tape. It's great though!

One-man noise unit started by Anton Gudkov in 2009 in Russia, Omsk. His first albums were released under the name “Snimoknok”. First album “Go Back Home To Your Toys” (Назад Домой К Своим Игрушкам) was much more a cut-up thing, a sound collage, a mix of sounds from different sessions. As motley as the cover-art of it. Then began noise. 99% of it is an analogue noise and is created with a help of vocal and some guitar pedals. All sounds were/is and will be created in his room. Being an artist, he designed all the covers of his works (except a couple of them). Anton did albums under different names: Snimoknok (analogue noise), Atomic Vomit Woman (digital noise), RKKA (some sort of idm) and H.I.R.O.S.H.I.M.A. Recordings – fake compilations, containing unreleased material, very different and unsuitable for albums. Last (!) work under “Snimoknok”-name was released with a help of RusZUD net label in 2010. Since the beginning of the year all recordings are signed as “Booby Mason” (name has nothing in common with masons; much more with boobies).

My name is Christoph Belka and some time ago I created the Ambient/Noise

project Ulthar but after circa two years I was not really satisfied with

the direction which it took. So I decided to reinvent it and I gave it a

new name: Nebulæ. This new name also came with a new idea. I wanted to

create more cosmic and atmosperic music but still I liked the good old

noise.

My Debut is concipated as a C90 audio cassette but I am not interested

in financial profit from this release, so i will just give some copies

to friends and the rest of the world must live with this mp3 release.

everyone is able to make his own copy with a cassette recorder and a 90

minutes audio cassette.

It contains an A side and a B side. Both are total different from each

other. The A side creates more atmosphere and is the quiet part of this

tape. There is more drone and ambient at this side. The B side instead

is creating terror and noise and contains also some materials which I

already published as Ulthar. Also it contains some previously unreleased

songs.

To describe my sound I would use definitions like ambient, drone,

experimental, industrial, noise.

Graveyard Of Honor - Antique Corrosion

This first release by Graveyard Of Honor, "Antique Corrosion" is a compilation of sorts, as the material was recorded sporadically between 2006 and 2008. The project reverently takes its name from the Kinji Fuksasaku film from 1975.

All work on these recordings was done in isolation and with minimal resources.

The material is bracketed into the "harsh noise" category. The tracks vary in flavor and temperament, as the object was for each to have its own identity. Everything from low-end blasts and strangled vocals to metal clang, feedback, high-voltage shrieks, walls of crackling noise to damaged synth to bottom-of-the-barrel sludge can be found here. Graveyard Of Honor is currently based in Brooklyn, New York City.

Dust Cult - Self Titled

I recorded the demo in July 2010 in more or less 3 days, and it's basically improvised noise made with a bass, a tape player, a mic and a distortion pedal recorded with my laptop and mixed with some samples from old 60s/70s songs. The whole concept beyond it was to make something both trippy and heavy, focusing on the alienation and paranoia of this society.

The concept is all based on a personal view of this world/society.

I have been creating experimental music on and off since the early 1990s, most frequently as The Violet Grind and Imperial Floral Assault Unit. After a very long hiatus, I have begun working again as Subterrestrial. As a project, Subterrestrial focuses mostly on dark ambient and noise with the occasional foray into 8-bit and chiptune. Subterrestrial is mostly inspired by hollow earth and subterranean themes. I have two new releases that I'd like to submit to Terror Noise Audio:

H-21

Subterrestrial's "H-21" is inspired by early 20th century exotic dancer Mata Hari, who was executed for treason in France during World War I after being accused of spying for Germany. Subterrestrial uses harsh, 8-bit noise and heavily aliased exotic rhythms to explore her often violent life and tragic death. It is believed that she was wrongly accused of her crime and made a scapegoat. H-21 was her alleged codename.

It consists of improvised electronic noise. The sounds were created using a Bugbrand Weevil with a d.delay pedal. I started by recording my solo improvisations then edited slightly if needed. No overdubs or processors were added.For this album I wanted to create contrasts of loud/quiet, dense/sparseand chaos/order.

Ive been improvising and recording since 2006. Starting out on guitar, karimba and pedals, I recorded albums under the name Skarabee. I released an album on FBOX records called Tlon.I then ditched the guitar for purely electronics with my old guitar pedals. After leaving the seminal Chicago-based noise outfit Panicsville in 2005, Marc Broude began a solo project drawing from a multitude of diverse genres including dark ambient, drone, experimental, lo-fi and avant-garde with occasional one-off collaborations with the likes of Hair Police, Lasse Marhaug, Ryoji Ikeda and Kenji Siratori. In 2006 Broude joined Grindcore outfit Zog as the bassist and vocalist. After the death of Danny Cortez in 2007 Broude left and continued his solo endeavor.

Using low frequency sound exploration , field recording, water, voltage-controlled oscillators, Zen-inspired ecclesiastical hymns and scordatura notation Broude established a cult following. Despite offers from 4 independent labels Broude founded his own label, No Zen Records which he releases his own material on.

A sonic examination revolving around the music industry was originally made between 2006-2007 but was never released, which is part of the irony of the entire project as much of the motivation behind it was to show the sad truths of the music industry, for instance thinking you or your band or whatever will be really big and well-known only to end up with a pile of debt and a small handful of people giving a shit about you or making lots and lots of releases which only a handful of people really care about, all these kinds of things. The album follows a typical compositional style for Fanning, which is based around various loop structures which stop and start or bits and pieces which drop in and out, composed chaos, relevant samples, even leftover traces of melody or structure, generally obliterated in a mess of contradictions, etc.

The time has come for me to depart from TNA and pass on the torch to somebody else. I think I did my share and sadly I don't have much time anymore to dedicate to blogs.

I still have about 3-4 pages of emails from people who sent me their albums, demos, promos and stuff like that. In the following week(s) I will be posting as much stuff I can per day until I run out of working links. I won't post my mini reviews or stuff like that to make this process much faster. I did listen to most of the stuff but writing for each post would be too much trouble so I must abstain from this method. I will post descriptions that came with the emails of course and photos where available. Also I'll post them chronologically from the latest to the oldest so that the oldest can be on top.

After that I'll dump everything else I have but didn't post before.

I've also done some cleaning in the staff area. I gave admin privileges to Blasted, TG, J and La Grippe since they were the most active people lately (excluding ZM76 since he appears and disappears every half-a-year or so ;D) and I also removed some long inactive people (who didn't post anything in over a year or didn't post anything at all (Pompeu?). It's up to the new admins to decide where this ship will sail. Arr.

When that's all done I'm moving away.

First post of the new year. Also, glad to be back. Also also, glad to see a FLAC of the mighty Pulse Demon.

Here we have a vintage and somewhat rare tape compilation entitled Hear The Roar Of The Mountains from 1985. I found it while I was going through my folder of albums I hadn't added to my library yet. Due to slack, it has grown to 194 folders. This comp is a real gem. The rip is great... 224Kb MP3 with covers.
