Propergol – Un Déchaînement De Violence / Cleanshaven (2006)

>> Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I'm not sure where many noisers stand in the debate of sampling. Indeed, nearly every second Propergol uses another sample to aid ominous, creepy atmospheres of a dark mental hospital or man's inner psychosis. But it's ingenious in it's effect and immersion of the listener's experience, and why you should listen to this right now and get transported into a world of terrible fantasy. This is a 2cd remastering of two previous albums from the PE artist's collection, and deserves to be heard. (search Propergol to find other downloads as well)

Killer Bug – Beyond The Valley Of The Tapes (2005)

Killer Bug is a former project of Kazumoto Endo, who many know for the great work that is 'While You Were Out.' Unlike the cut-up style of that album, Killer Bug emphasizes pure ear-splitting sounds that never relent for a second. This is a compilation of various tapes and EPs released before, put into a nicely long 2cd package. Dig it

Screwtape - "Four New Spirals"

>> Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Australian Noise veteran / ex-anarchist extremist / recluse Screwtape (aka Andrew McIntosh, Scroungers, Dearth N.FIOS, God) has recently uploaded four new heavy-as-fuck spirals. Maybe he has stopped with the cassette releases once and for all? Who knows? Anyway, one of these tracks is a tribute to Conrad Schnitzler titled "Un-Con (Buried All Over The World)", artwork above. Download here.

Brutal noisecore, unknown to many. "Eu gosto de urinar em cadáveres" is killer! Download here.

Prurient - Mummification And Prayer

>> Monday, September 19, 2011

Another debut as far as I am aware.  This is an hour of work from 2001 spread across two C30s which equals four fifteen minute tracks that seem to be a single consistent piece, possibly recorded live.  It has a definite lo-fi aesthetic about it that is consistent with Prurient releases such as Whooping Cough, Starvation, and Shrimp Crescent.  Doesn't seem to mesh with its packaging "mate", Arbitrary Witness, in any noticeable sound.  A wonderful piece of work, best listened to in its entirety.  Four untitled tracks.

Prurient - We Set Off In High Spirits

As far as I know, this rip can be considered a debut, as I am aware of no other existing rip of this tape.  A 2003 release on Gods Of Tundra in an unknown edition, this C20 seems to be a wonderful bridge between the harsher "History Of Aids" style Prurient and his later melodic works.  A must-download.

A: Tension
B: Signals

Troum & All Sides – Shutûn

>> Saturday, September 17, 2011

There is no doubt in my mind that Shutûn is one of the best ambient albums I have graced my ears with. Fans of drone/ambient/dark-ambient/stuff take heed. This is one giant slab of ebbing and flowing beauty from the likes of Troum (who are regulars at making great ambient) and All Sides, who haven't exactly put out much material. Feast your ears on this

Mlehst – An Old Broom Knows All The Dirty Corners (2006)

>> Friday, September 16, 2011

All Brentnall's Mlehst project, operating off of his own Belief Recordings, makes great sound-art/noise that deserves more attention. This record in particular flows great and deserves to mentioned up there with the likes of Jason Crumer style noise or Kevin Drumm layered electroacoustics. Check it out for sure

Nicole 12 – Black Line (2011)

Much like power-electronic flagship Whitehouse, Nicole 12 devotes its lyricism and attitude to pedophilia in a way that's intended to shock and provoke. This shouldn't be a surprise to fans of PE who already know the drill. This new LP from Nicole 12 more of the pounding distortion, with the addition of creepy vocals and sound bits. One could consider it serious and demented, or perhaps a little overwrought and silly. I'm in both camps. Check it out and see for yourself.

Hanatarash – We Are Hardcore (2005)

Hanatarash is another project by the very prolific Yamatsuka Eye, most famous for his band the Boredoms. Perhaps this band is most notorious for it's live performances, which includes destruction with a variety of industrial machinery, including a bulldozer. (check out the youtubes) This here is a rather hefty collection of old material spread over four discs. Great noise, check it out...

Shallow Waters - V

>> Thursday, September 15, 2011

The final tape in the left-wing power electronics group's repertoire, as a cross-country move split them up.  A terrible loss.

The Gerogerigegege – Singles 1985 -1993 (1994)

>> Wednesday, September 14, 2011

One of the signature Japanoise bands around, Juntaro Yamanouchi takes the cake for being the most bizarre of all the noise-makers, his works involving senzuri (live masturbation) blasts of noise and sheer rock mayhem (like with Tokyo Anal Dynamite) Here's a collection of singles throughout his career from hard to find print releases (though perhaps it's all hard to find, anyway) Heed my warning: there's plenty of noise delight and masturbation to be found on here.

Prurient / Nico Vascellari – Jesus (2010)

In honor of Dominick Fernow aka Prurient's most recent release, which I think most of us would agree is a definite departure from his previous work (not necessarily a bad thing!) here's some of the ear-splitting feedback that we all cherish him for. This is a collaboration with Nico Vascellari, musician and visual artist. Consists of live sets and recorded material. Great stuff.

Blood Stereo - Your Snakelike King (2009)

Hello once again,

This is a 2009 lp by Blood Stereo, made up of husband and wife duo Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance. Creepy, ominous and colorful ambient/drone/noise received a lot of praise by The Wire and other press. Really, really good stuff. If you haven't had the chance, get it.

Also, if you want more, have a look at ubuweb's sound collection. It has a wealth of recordings available for download from Blood Stereo, not to mention other noise artists. If you're into avant-garde at all, that's a place to bookmark immediately.
