It consists of improvised electronic noise. The sounds were created using a Bugbrand Weevil with a d.delay pedal. I started by recording my solo improvisations then edited slightly if needed. No overdubs or processors were added. For this album I wanted to create contrasts of loud/quiet, dense/sparseand chaos/order.

Ive been improvising and recording since 2006. Starting out on guitar, karimba and pedals, I recorded albums under the name Skarabee. I released an album on FBOX records called Tlon.I then ditched the guitar for purely electronics with my old guitar pedals. As well as noise and electronic improvisation music my past tastes in experimental rock, ambient and electronica have influenced me.

Monstres par Excès - some new stuff

Monstres par Excès is a label that sends us every now and then a few albums that they release. If I remember right they are situated in Italy but one of the members currently resides in China. So there are some Chinese albums here as well. Most of the stuff they put out is rather good.

Links are direct downloads.

Astral Vomit / Istituzioni Ambienti Naturalismo - Collapsar

Cosmic split. Splitted cosmos. Astral Vomit trascends distortion and shreds amplifiers for unrelenting ASCII wall noise (|||||||||). Istituzioni Ambienti Naturalismo goes kraut and authistic, droning synths and field recordings from Saturn. Two faces of a dying star, the light and the vomit.

Teratology - I

Teratology is a big band with no fixed members, meant to catch the sound of junk jazz with the help of Monstres par Excès family members. The more the better. This first installment was recorded in double stereo live take in October 2009, during the MPE Attack! festival, and features Junky from Torturing Nurse, Olaf Hochherz, 骏园, G. and 卖卖. We promise not to sound like this anymore: sinewy no-jazz themes de-deconstructed and stretched over bursts of trudging noisy guitars, backed by spastic drumming and topped by micro-laptop impulses.

DJ Kimchi ÷ DJ P江戸 - Concentrated Love / Concentrated Hate

These DJ's don't spin the shit you will expect, of course. Sped-up breakbeats flutter in a rotting magma of anime shrieks and delayed synths, turgid (!) basslines and random glitch-based drum machines, gritty live recorded interludes and a power electronic ending suite sure to appeal to your noise-craving appetite. It's thirty minutes of monkeys, hotkeys, broken pan knobs, wrong use of sequencers and a sincere despise for bpm synching, all dressed in cute smiles.

Cassa Ufficio Malattie Tropicali - Dolori

The annoying noise unit C.U.M.T. is back on full force in East Asia. Three outsiders (Dr. Dildo, Istituzioni Ambienti Naturalismo & LxVxTx) join their efforts to proudly present their take on autistic digital noise with unpop glitches, anime samples, deconstructed trumpet leads and fragmented rubbish spewing out from misused electronic devices, collapsing behind a Great Wall of Noise and coalescing into NintendoDS laden patterns and rotten Pachelbel's Canon. Recorded live at Monstres par Excès Attack in Shanghai, 18 October 2009.

Marc Broude

After leaving  the seminal Chicago-based noise outfit Panicsville in 2005, Marc Broude began a solo project drawing from a multitude of diverse genres including dark ambient, drone, experimental, lo-fi and avant-garde with occasional one-off collaborations with the likes of Hair Police, Lasse Marhaug, Ryoji Ikeda and Kenji Siratori. In 2006 Broude joined Grindcore outfit Zog as the bassist and vocalist. After the death of Danny Cortez in 2007 Broude left and continued his solo endeavor.

Using low frequency sound exploration , field recording, water,  voltage-controlled oscillators, Zen-inspired ecclesiastical hymns and scordatura  notation Broude established a cult following. Despite offers from 4 independent labels Broude founded his own label, No Zen Records which he releases his own material on.

Record Label Records Presents: Electric Carpets

Record Label Records was formed in 1996, as a reaction to the distance between electronic rave music and heady experimental stuff. Since then, RLR has steadily amassed a catalog of limited edition CDs and custom, hand-packaged vinyl releases that are unified in their unique approach and colorful sound design. We may have thrown you off by the cryptic nature of our previous promo, 'Drinking the Goat's Blood', so to lighten the atmosphere a bit we bring you these new synthetic lullabies in the form of 'Electric Carpets'.

'Electric Carpets' is distinguished by its electro acoustic beats, and what RLR likes to call 'post IDM' (although we don't take the intelligent part very seriously…). Consider it dance music, but not in the typical sense of a 45rpm for those who expect a set to be one genre the entire time. Rather, it is a series of weird, poppy toe-tappers and material for the untraditional DJ, lovingly sequenced and psychonautically tested for your aural delight . Brian E creates infectious prog synth pop too earnest and intricate to be a mere throwback, as he's been on the road for half the decade with 80's cyberfunk legend Egyptian Lover, driving their raucous sets with his keys. Kossak brings tribal cutups to the table, custom crafted miniature sound design drum patterns hailing down on murky zombient atmospheres. Kossak, Brian E, Tomoroh Hidari & Mike Dunkley also have new LPs anticipated out on RLR the first half of 2011. Music like this doesn't often invite it, but RLR has provided BPMs for every track to encourage you try your hand at beatmatching.

RLR is very excited to share with you new & exclusive works from acts on Hymen, Ant-zen, Phthalo, Acroplane, Skam, Tear, Highpoint Lowlife, Sub Rosa, and Important Records as well as its own cast of artists. This compilation is also the RLR premiere for Scuzi, Terminal 11, Not Breathing, Exillon, wAgAwAgA, Dr. Strangeloop, BD1982, Future Image, Dimentia & Identity Theft. "The mother of Achilles dipped him in the River Styx in order to render his body invulnerable." and so you shall be too with the power of Electric Carpets.

Electric Carpets Cast: Kush Arora, Cubus, Dr. Strangeloop, Kcinsu, William Braintree, Future Image, Identity Theft, Kossak, Scuzi, Brian E, Exillon, Dimentia, Not Breathing, Terminal 11, BD1982, Fluorescent Grey, Mike Dunkley, wAgAwAgA

Massaccesi - When I was Young, It was all about the Music

A sonic examination revolving around the music industry was originally made between 2006-2007 but was never released, which is part of the irony of the entire project as much of the motivation behind it was to show the sad truths of the music industry, for instance thinking you or your band or whatever will be really big and well-known only to end up with a pile of debt and a small handful of people giving a shit about you or making lots and lots of releases which only a handful of people really care about, all these kinds of things. The album follows a typical compositional style for Fanning, which is based around various loop structures which stop and start or bits and pieces which drop in and out, composed chaos, relevant samples, even leftover traces of melody or structure, generally obliterated in a mess of contradictions, etc.

Originally produced/composed in 2005-2007
Made by John Fanning as Massaccesi, sounds sourced from all over, edited,
finalized and deconstructed in Hampton, New Hampshire, USA.

Departure

>> Friday, March 25, 2011

The time has come for me to depart from TNA and pass on the torch to somebody else. I think I did my share and sadly I don't have much time anymore to dedicate to blogs.

I still have about 3-4 pages of emails from people who sent me their albums, demos, promos and stuff like that. In the following week(s) I will be posting as much stuff I can per day until I run out of working links. I won't post my mini reviews or stuff like that to make this process much faster. I did listen to most of the stuff but writing for each post would be too much trouble so I must abstain from this method. I will post descriptions that came with the emails of course and photos where available. Also I'll post them chronologically from the latest to the oldest so that the oldest can be on top.

After that I'll dump everything else I have but didn't post before.

I've also done some cleaning in the staff area. I gave admin privileges to Blasted, TG, J and La Grippe since they were the most active people lately (excluding ZM76 since he appears and disappears every half-a-year or so ;D) and I also removed some long inactive people (who didn't post anything in over a year or didn't post anything at all (Pompeu?). It's up to the new admins to decide where this ship will sail. Arr.

When that's all done I'm moving away.

Thanks everybody and have fun in the future.
