Solmania - Psycledelic

>> Thursday, November 29, 2007

Solmania is a project of a guy called Masahiko Ohno. Famous for his home made contraptions and guitars. This is his second album and is fairly good. It's pretty much harsh all the time with screams and everything and an ocassional guitar riff comes by too. The last song is much calmer and far more dronienig and sometimes sounds like complete madness. Anyway, on to the songs.

Tracklist:

1. Psycledelic (7:31)
2. Nitro Mary & High-Side Blues (4:56)
3. Polar Bola (21:29)

Sponge - Relation Between A Production Of Images And The Flesh In A State Of Consciousness

>> Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Spong was a supergroup that only released this vinyl and appeard on Tourney Into Pain compilation. It contained a nice amount of famous Japanese noise artists. It's an very unique type of noise but sadly it has only two tracks and those two tracks are very short if you count all the trouble you spent on finding this. A very small amount (approximately 10) of these records were packaged with an extra postcard and picture of a person having an IV inserted. These copies also have a knife inset and blood spattered on the cover which is pretty sick. I remember sawing those but can't remember on which site.

People that participated in this release were:
Jojo Hiroshige (Hijokaidan)
Junko Hiroshige (Hijokaidan)
Masami Akita (Merzbow)
Yamazaki Takushi (Masonna)

Tracklist:

Side A: Consideration 1 (5:08)
Side B: Consideration 2 (4:48)

Fire In The Head - Meditate / Mutilate

>> Monday, November 26, 2007

I was very suprised when I first heard this album. After an amazing CD they put out in 2005 called "As The Nest Burns" they seems to change a course in their music. This pice has no harsh noise at all. It's actually mainly based on ambiental music but don't worry there is also a fair bit of noise in it too but it's just not the same band as it used to be. Still good though, definetly check it out.
Tracklisting:
1. Darkest Before Dawn (4:18)
2. True Believer (4:22)
3. Learning How (4:32)
4. Kriegskunst (4:42)
5. Complete The Obsession (4:17)
6. And Still They Come (4:23)
7. Psychotic Underground (4:21)
8. Within And Without (4:41)
9. Diluted (4:31)
10. Meditate / Mutilate (4:10)

Pedestrian Deposit - Fatale

So finaly some new stuff by me. Pedestrian Deposit was formed around year 2000 with early intentions of creating various layers of abstract and structured electronic sound, with no relation until mixed. But as things went on he changed his intentions in dense urban-noir noise mixing analog and digital sounds and process them if needed. I found his stuff by accident and I started listening it with low expectations but it turns out to be awesome stuff that is definetly worth listening!

Tracklisting:
1. Svelte (5:25)
2. Textile (8:31)
3. You Can't Help Me (3:58)
4. Mascara (18:11)

Review From Terrorizer Magazine

There are certain definite things in life: the rising sun, rush hour crushes, insane radio and TV presenters and bad hollywood remakes of excellent Japanese horror films. You may also add to this list 'Turmeric' a new Merzbow boxset that's a bit noisy. Four CDs in a rather splendid embossed silver-on-white slipcase and a fifth disc (also the best) available as a limited edition from Blossoming Noise's website all contribute to the ever-growing catalog of this master craftsman. There's no denying that Masami Akita is anything short of genius when it comes to the creation and manipulation of noise and these five discs only strengthen the case. But surely he's getting bored of such compositions; he can create this sort of output standing on his head by now. Is it because he is a master of his art that it appears an easy task to create such bizarre works of cacophony? 'Turmeric' is exactly what you'd expect from Merzbow: hideous squealling feedback, low drones, sharp high end and the occasional repeating beat - still utterly hypnotic and brilliantly done. If it ain't broke...

Zmajevdah & Smetnja Split

>> Friday, November 16, 2007

So this is a split that me and my friend did. His part (Zmajevdah) is metal while my part (Smetnja) is noise. Each side has 4 tracks so that makes a total of 8 songs and the split lasts around 20 minutes. Limited to 20 copies. Also if you are wondering why is "YMCA" on the cover. No we are not gay, this is I guess, the name of our label that released the split. YMCA stands for "Young Men Causing Aids" which is a parody on the oh so popular song from Village People.

>> Thursday, November 15, 2007

Well since the last Bastard Noise release I posted was downloaded alot I decided to find some more of their stuff. C.C.C.C. - Cosmic Coincidence Control Center

The C.C.C.C.! One of my favorite noise groups of all time featuring bondage-porn star Mayuko Hino which can't be any bad. This was their firs release on CD containing three tracks. First two tracks are rather short but nevertheless they are very well made! The last one goes for around 40 minutes.

Merzbow - Merzbow Loves Emil Beaulieau

>> Tuesday, November 13, 2007

By the looks of the title you would think (or atleast I thought like that) that this is a collaboration between Merzbow and Emil, but it's not, or atleast it's not credited like that. But that dosen't matter anyway it's the music that counts right? Contains two long tracks called: One Man Penis (34:38) and One Man Buttocks (28:37).

The Haters

>> Monday, November 12, 2007

A central aspect of the Haters' work is that the sounds they produce are not music. This is a frequently repeated idea among noise artists, if only to distinguish pure harsh noise from more musical related genres such as noise rock, but the Haters take the idea far more literally than most. The sounds they create are made not with musical instruments or even audio equipment, but with physical processes such as grinding, crashing, and other forms of destruction. At the same time, there is always a pronounced, often absurd conceptual element to the group's work.
The group began as a punk rock band, but assumed its current form when Jupitter-Larsen realized he was more interested in making noise and destroying venues than in structured music. Soon the Haters established contacts with like-minded artists in what would become known as the noise music scene, including Merzbow, Maurizio Bianchi, and The New Blockaders.

One of their many albums, Drunk on Decay was released in 1997 and all sounds on this CD were produced from a suspended, amplified funnel dragging and eroding on rotating sandpaper. Erosion being the only way a solid object can truly penetrate the void. Link.

A Song For Nihilism Now - 7'' EP that I found in the middle of nowhere on the internets, this was released in 1980 and it sure sounds like it was released then. Link.
